Joe Wright's "The Soloist" is the incredible true story of Nathaniel Ayers (played by Jamie Foxx) unflinching love for playing music and his fall from incredible heights at the hand of the mental disorder schizophrenia. Steve Lopez (played by Robert Downey Jr.) is a Los Angeles columnist who sees the incredible musical ability of the homeless Nathaniel Ayers and wants to write a story about him after Ayers mentions being a student at the Juilliard School of music. In the midst of interviewing people who knew Ayers, Steve Lopez comes to know Ayers as more than just someone to write about, but as an actual friend. Steve Lopez believes so much in Mr. Ayers musical ability and his love for music that he gets him lessons for the Cello and attempts to bring him into the public eye again. Little does Steve Lopez know that Nathaniel Ayers schizophrenia will disallow Ayers from being the musical prodigy that he once was. I love that this film centers around such a lover of music in Nathaniel Ayers and the acting that backs up how interesting the characters really are. Nathaniel Ayers is the embodiment of human-being's love for music. Every single person can learn something from him, what he loves about music is truly on a level of love higher than that of everyone else. The actor Jamie Foxx as Nathaniel Ayers plays it perfectly, seeing the love in his eyes for Johann Sebastion as it is played is incredible to watch. Phranc - Everywhere I Go (I Hear The Go-Go's) Released as a bonus track on the 1985 re-release of her debut album "Folksinger" on Island Records. Written in the early 1980s (and released in 1985), this is Phranc's "ode" to the ubiquitous-ness of her punk rock compatriots the Go-Go's at the time. Having a great sense of humor about it all, the Go-Go's even had this track played immediately before they took the stage every night on their 1990 reunion tour. Phranc, the self-styled "All-American Jewish Lesbian Folksinger", began her performing career in the late 1970s and early 1980s punk scene in Los Angeles. She had a bleach blonde crewcut and wore male attire creating an androgynous persona for her first band Nervous Gender, which formed in 1978. In 1980 she left Nervous Gender to join Catholic Discipline, in which Claude Bessey, journalist for Slash zine, was the lead singer. She was also in Castration Squad, an all-girl punk band. Phranc appears with Catholic Discipline in The Decline of Western Civilization, a documentary by Penelope Spheeris. In the 1980s Phranc pursued a solo career. She performs in Paul Morrissey's film Madame Wang's (1981) as Phranque. She began playing an acoustic guitar and released Folksinger on Rhino Records in 1985 (later licensed to Island Records). She opened for music acts such as The Smiths, Hüsker Dü, Violent Femmes, and Billy Bragg.
